Roswell Park has a longstanding history of excellence in cancer research. The neighboring University at Buffalo brings significant strength through the Center of Excellence in Bioinformatics and through the new Clinical and Translational Science Center, and a new graduate program in genetics, genomics, and bioinformatics. For this position, we are looking for an outstanding individual who has the leadership and expertise necessary to develop and strengthen an innovative research program that integrates genomics research with clinical and translational research. Candidates are sought with a strong background in genomic and epigenomic approaches to identify and characterize cancer-related driver mutations, genes, expression signatures, and/or genetic components relating to cancer initiation, progression, and/or treatment response. America's first cancer center was founded in 1898 by Dr. Roswell Park. Over its long history, Roswell Park Cancer Institute has made fundamental contributions to reducing the cancer burden and has successfully maintained an exemplary leadership role in setting the national standards for cancer care, research, and education. The campus spans 25 acres in downtown Buffalo and consists of 15 buildings with about 1.6 million square feet of space. A hospital building houses a comprehensive diagnostic and treatment center. The Institute built a new medical research complex and renovated existing education and research space to support its future growth and expansion. Roswell Park's mission is to provide total care to cancer patients, conduct research into the cause, treatment, and prevention of cancer, and to educate the public and the next generation of researchers who study and treat cancer. Applicants for this position must have a PhD and/or MD degree with a distinguished record of scientific achievement, demonstrated leadership skills, a productive research program recognized at the national and international level and a commitment to education and mentorship of students and faculty.
