Geisinger Health System is seeking candidates for a unique, non-traditional fellowship opportunity.

 

This Leadership in Hospital Medicine fellowship is available at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Wilkes Barre, PA. This one year program offers the physician who intends to practice in an inpatient environment training and experience in skills needed to succeed as a department, medical staff or institutional leader. The program will incorporate courses offered by the American College of Physician Executives along with a structured, practical curriculum on the fundamentals of healthcare leadership.  The fellow will work with administrative and clinical physician mentors to develop the broad skill set necessary to successfully lead within a hospital system. 

 

Additionally, there are 2 clinical hospitalist fellowships available for Family Medicine or Internal Medicine Trained physicians that are looking to gain in depth experience as a hospitalist and intend to practice in Hospital Medicine long term.

 

The ideal candidate will have completed an ACGME or AOA accredited residency in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine and have an expressed interest in leadership. Physicians who have completed a chief resident year are encouraged to apply, as are those who are experienced medicine attending seeking to understand and enhance their leadership skills for career development.

Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center (GWV), located in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., is an acute care hospital that is licensed for 243 beds, and houses the only Level II Trauma center in Luzerne County. The campus includes the Frank M. and Dorothea Henry Cancer Center, The Richard and Marion Pearsall Heart Hospital, the Janet Weis Children’s Hospital Pediatric Unit, a transplant program and the Brain & Spine Tumor Institute.
