Hospital Epidemiologist/Medical Director, Infection Prevention

The Mount Sinai Health System is currently seeking a full-time epidemiologist to lead efforts to eliminate healthcare associated infections. As a critical member of our leadership team, the epidemiologist will have designated oversight and accountability for infection prevention programs at two of our hospital campuses and associated ambulatory facilities. Our ideal program leader will have advanced knowledge of epidemiology and infectious diseases, and will work directly with the Executive Medical Director of Infection Prevention and Control. As one of the premier academic health systems in the country, we expect candidates to have a strong clinical background and be fully committed to the mission of Mount Sinai Health System.

In addition, the position will allow the candidate to collaborate with, and benefit from the Institute for Translational Epidemiology at Icahn School of Medicine. This program takes advantage of the extraordinary strengths of the medical center in both research and practice in clinical and preventive disciplines to foster the development of cutting-edge, multidisciplinary epidemiology research projects in the clinic, in the community, and in collaborating institutions across the world.

Position Details:

  • Partner with the Executive Medical Director of Infection Prevention and Control to lead the hospitals’ efforts to eliminate healthcare associated infections
  • Designated oversight and accountability for all hospital-wide and associated ambulatory facilities-based infection prevention programs
  • Share care responsibilities and coverage with other team members
  • Collaborate with multi-specialty practice colleagues as an integral part of a world-class health system

 Position Qualifications:

  • Medical Degree from an Accredited University
  • New York State Medical License
  • Board Eligible or Board Certified in Infectious Disease and/or Clinical Epidemiology
  • 3-5 Years’ experience preferred
  • EIS or similar specialty training preferred
