We are seeking an exceptional leader to serve as the Vice President of Clinical Quality, and to work with university leadership to establish and oversee all aspects of clinical quality, patient safety, infection control, and other related safety initiatives for a world-class institution for teaching, research, and clinical care. The successful candidate will lead the implementation of key quality performance indicators and initiatives, working in partnership with clinical leadership. The VP of Clinical Quality will report directly to the CEO of the University Physician Practice group, a multispecialty group practice that consists of more than 950 physicians and 1,600 health professionals, providing clinical care in over 100 specialty and sub-specialty areas. Option to maintain a small clinical practice, in addition to administrative duties, if so desired.

  • Nationally ranked academic medical center, including an award-winning Children’s Hospital
  • Main responsibilities include:
    • Serve as a key advisor to all leaders on matters related to clinical quality, patient safety, and infection control
    • Assess external trends in clinical quality and patient safety, while recommending organizational direction and targets for university hospitals and clinics to achieve overall performance goals
    • Lead a diverse, multi-disciplinary organization to improve internal quality and influence quality outcomes throughout the continuum of care
    • Assess risk issues and advise the organization on changes necessary to reduce or mitigate risk
    • Serve as an expert in clinical quality, patient safety, and quality improvement, and will translate that expertise into clear and implementable goals and processes for the organization by the achievement of top-decile performance in national measures of clinical quality 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • MD or DO degree—board certification by the American Board of Medical Specialties—Master’s Degree or related healthcare degree with experience in Healthcare Quality and Outcomes Management
  • 3 To 5 years clinical/hospital operations experience—5+ year’s hospital Quality Improvement experience—3+ year’s management directing a complex hospital-wide Quality Improvement program—patient safety
  • Preferred qualifications: Master’s degree in healthcare quality and safety—certified professional in healthcare quality—experience with infection prevention protocols and implementation
