Leadership opportunity for a Program Director to lead our new Emergency Medicine Residency Program at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The sponsoring institution already has an ACGME accredited program in internal medicine and general surgery and is moving forward with additional programs in EM and a transitional year internship. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced, motivated leader to have input on building a program from the ground up. Grand Strand Medical Center is a Level II trauma facility with a 40-bed ED that provides EM residents with an optimal educational experience with over 57,000 ED visits per year. Qualified candidates must be Board Certified in EM by the American Board of Emergency Medicine; have three years previous educational leadership experience as a core faculty, associate program director, or program director in an ACGME accredited EM program; be willing to combine admin and clinical responsibilities with 20 hours per week of clinical duties; and have strong administrative and team building skills as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Responsibilities will include having authority and accountability for the operation of the EM residency program; developing curriculum, policies, and procedures for the program; obtaining and maintaining ACGME accreditation; fulfilling responsibilities of the program director as defined in the ACGME Emergency medicine program requirements; recruiting residents into the program and developing evaluation process for performance; participating in competency evaluations of residents and faculty; serving on the Graduate Medical Education Committee to formulate institutional policy involving resident supervision, transitions of care, patient safety, etc.; and supervising the EM program coordinator and associate program director.
