  Holy Spirit – A Geisinger Affiliate, located in Harrisburg, Pa., is seeking a BC/BE Experienced Director of Trauma/Surgical Critical Care/Acute Care Surgery

 

Holy Spirit – A Geisinger Affiliate is starting a Level II Trauma Program.   This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a future expansion project that will include a major emergency department renovation to include new trauma resuscitation bays, trauma administrative / conference space, a rooftop helipad and additional critical care beds.

The current ED cares for 44,000 patients per year and the hospital has 16 ORs and 33 critical care beds. Holy Spirit is licensed for  307 beds.  It is anticipated that once fully operational, the Level II Trauma Center at Holy Spirit – A Geisinger Affiliate will treat more than 1,200 trauma cases per year. 

 

This position will include oversight and responsibility for Trauma, Surgical Critical Care and Acute Care Surgery.  It is anticipated that the clinical/administrative split will be 80% clinical and 20% administrative. 

The trauma service will be supported by rotating surgical residents, full-time advanced practitioners as well as full time neurosurgeons, orthopedic trauma surgeons and other subspecialists such as cardiac and vascular surgeons, interventional radiologists, plastic surgery, otolaryngologists, ophthalmologists and OMFS.

Education and Experience:

·        Board certified in General Surgery with fellowship training in Trauma/Surgical Critical Care.

·        Must be eligible for licensure in the State of Pennsylvania

·        Eligible to work in the United States

·        Minimum of 8 years of Trauma surgery experience, with minimum of 3 years in a leadership role
