The North Shore – LIJ Department of Ophthalmology is seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible fellowship trained Pediatric Ophthalmologist to join our department. Our full time faculty consists of nine ophthalmologist and two optometrists. Currently, there are two full-time pediatric ophthalmologists who practice pediatric ophthalmology exclusively in a rapidly growing tertiary practice with a separate suite dedicated to pediatric ophthalmology. The candidate must be either a current Member or Member-in-training of AAPO&S or have completed an AAPO&S-approved fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology. There is opportunity for an academic appointment at the Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine. There are a total of 12 ophthalmology residents and a cornea and glaucoma fellow in the Department of Ophthalmology. We are seeking and individual with a strong commitment to resident training, clinic care, and research in an academic setting. Highlights of the position include:

  • Work in an outpatient practice.
  • Perform inpatient consults at both North Shore University Hospital and Cohen Children’s Medical Center, which house a 75+ bed NICU with an active ROP examination program
  • Teach and supervise North Shore-LIJ Ophthalmology residents in both the ambulatory and surgical settings.
  • Teach and supervise Hofstra North Shore-LIJ medical students in both the ambulatory and surgical settings.
  • Conduct didactic lectures to ophthalmology and pediatric residents.
  • Perform strabismus surgery, cataract surgery, and routine pediatric ocular plastic surgery.
  • Perform clinical research in pediatric ophthalmology.

Salary Disclosure

Full-time clinical base compensation at Northwell Health ranges from $125K to $750K, which is impacted by various factors, including but not limited to physician specialty, level of experience, quality of care, academic accomplishments, patient experience and productivity. The base compensation range listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.
