The Department of Pediatrics at the Medical College of Wisconsin seeks a creative and scholarly leader to serve as Chief of the Pediatric Hospital Medicine Section and Medical Director of the Pediatric Hospitalist Program at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin. The Section Chief will be responsible for leading the clinical, educational, and research missions of a comprehensive academic hospitalist program. The Section Chief will be responsible for establishing collaborative ties with the whole of the pediatric enterprise to ensure the welfare and improve the health of the children of Wisconsin and the region. The Section Chief will also have the opportunity to build an academic Pediatric Hospitalist Fellowship, which is a priority for the Department. This is a clinical faculty position offering an academic appointment at the Medical College of Wisconsin commensurate with experience.

The foremost quality necessary for this position is vision for the burgeoning future of Pediatric Hospitalists. Other desired characteristics include a track record of 1) developing young clinicians into our future leaders in Pediatrics; 2) administrating section academic infrastructure and finances; 3) administratively managing a high volume diverse hospital medicine service; 4) collaborating successfully as a pediatric hospital medicine leader with hospital and medical partners in managing hospital work flow while maintaining the highest value of care; and 5) developing a culture of high team accountability and professionalism across the whole of the enterprise.

The individual selected for this position will be a strategic and highly communicative leader. As Pediatric Hospital Medicine Section Chief, the individual reports to the Chair of Pediatrics. As Medical Director of the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin Pediatric Hospital Medicine Program, the individual reports to the Chief Operating Officer of Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin. This individual will be a MD or MD/PhD who is board certified in Pediatrics.
